思いやりと人間愛だけは人一倍、だけど何をしても中途半端で半人前な男、“中腰の”中越チカラ――。幸せそうな人を見るとちょっとうれしくなり、悲しい人を見るとちょっと悲しくなる…。困っている様子の人を見ると、気になって仕方なく、声をかけようか、かけまいか中腰のままあれこれ悩み抜いた挙句、結局いつも声をかけてしまう、そんな《中腰の男》を、テレビ朝日ドラマ初主演となる松本 潤が演じます。人の話をじっくりと聞く才能はあるのに、多くの人の話を聞きすぎて逆に悩んでしまう――「人を救いたい」「周囲を平和にしたい」という思いが、すべての行動原理であるチカラですが、いつも中途半端に他人の問題に関わってしまい…簡単に解決できない問題だとわかると、いつもオロオロと中腰になりながら悩んでしまうのです。そんなチカラが、同じマンションに住む住人たちの悩みを解決し、やがてそのマンションはひとつのコミュニティーとなって強い繋がりを持っていくことに…。
